StampTV CSS Inspiration Blog Hop

 Hallo,
Welcome to another Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop - this time we are using the photo on the left for our inspiration. I love all the colors in this one!!!
If you are following along the hop then you came to me from the fabulous Miesje http://miesdf.blogspot.com/2013/06/css-inspiration-blog-hop-6-4-2013.html
I am sure she had something sweet to show you!!!!
I used 2 different Gina K sets - 'Botanical Dreams' and a retired labels set.
I stamped the background using the big flower blossom and then lightly stamped it in the center of the label too. The phrase is from Botanical Dreams too.
I used a burlap ribbon and some dark teal pearl drops and the base cardstock is a dark teal also.
Now I will send you on to the wonderful Vicki - http://allidoisstamp.blogspot.com/2013/06/stamp-tv-css-june-hop.html
Sorry so short - really wanted to get in on all the fun with this months hop - loved the inspiration photo!!! We have family arriving every day for my DD's graduation from HS so its a busy week.
Have fun on the hop - Take Care

Summer flowers

 Hallo,
A quick little post this afternoon - just under the wire for the Tuesday challenge over at Flourishes. The challenge this time was for something that reminded you of summer and to use a sheer ribbon. Check out the challenge here - www.flourishes.org/blog/
I had this image colored up - some summery orange and yellow and used 2 ribbons - the sheer gold and a multi-colored ribbon to bring out some of the colors of the image. I used prismacolor pencils  and cut the main panel with a Spellbinders die.
We had family arrive last night for my DD's graduation so we went to lunch today on the beach. More family arrives each day with graduation on Friday night and party on the beach on Saturday.

What have I been up to....

 Hallo,
We time just seems to be flying by - this coming Friday is Graduation already and its not like I have been crazy busy but busy enough and a bit lazy inbetween.
Craft wise I have not been up to much - I have another locker hook rug almost done that I am doing with some fancy yarn - its is going to be a very thick, soft rug but I will never do one like it again. It has taken a lot more yarn than I thought it would and at 4.99 a skein and over 14 skeins and only 3/4 done - it is just too costly.....
I had planned on starting on my DD's rug but I got to cutting fabric by hand and quickly said - no way and set up my Accu cut - only to find that I didn't have the correct tray for the super big strip cutter die - so I am waiting on that. Even if I don't get it until the end of the week - I would have probably still been cutting by hand anyway.....
Well this first set of pictures is my DD running the Gate to Gate run on Memorial Day on Eglin Air Force Base - I got off work just in time that morning to catch the start of the race and see her off and then I sat in the nice morning sun to catch some pictures as she finished up.
The last bunch of pictures is from yesterday - we went with friends on their new boat for the day. First we popped over to the area where the Pirate Festival was going on - mind you this was about 10 am and the place was already fairly jammed with boats and party hardy folks - the Pirate Landing (the 'Main' event  - wasn't even scheduled till 345 pm) Then we went out to claim a spot on 'Crab Island' which is a huge shallow area by the Destin bridge - it is usually packed every weekend (a little less so this weekend ) They have a food barge and even a band that plays on a barge next to the food barge, a huge inflatable slide and lots of people in little boats toodleing around selling boiled peanuts, ice cream and even pizza - in addition to all the boats, jet skis, paddle boards and kayaks....
It wasn't very crowded when we got there - nice sea green and turquoise water and a great breeze....although it was much more crowded as the day went on. We left about 4 and I didn't get too sunburned - lots of sunblock and sat under the canopy a lot.
Well I did a bit of yard work this am and some computer time so now I guess its time to do a bit of house cleaning - we have family coming in starting today for Graduation at the end of the week and I am really looking forward to it!!! I took 2 weeks off work  too :)
By the way - I do plan to try and participate in my favorite challenges over at Flourishes and Impression Obsession as the summer goes on but if you don't see me much don't worry - I am going to try and get my DD's locker hook run done before we go off to college and it is 32 by 60 and along with spending some extra time with my girl and helping her pack (and maybe start moving some of my craft room over to her room :) - well I may not be around here as much as usual and now you know why :)
All for now - Have a great weekend!!!

Proud Mom post - JrROTC Awards night

 Hallo,
Finally found some time to edit the picts I took at the ROTC Awards night this week - sorry the pictures are not so good - I have been taking pictures in this hall for 4 years now and never manage to get good pictures - they always turn out dark even when they have a;l the lights on(its like the walls just suck up all the light somehow...)
Anyway - the first 2 pictures are of my son Jack who is a Junior this year and the next 3 are of my daughter Paula who is a senior this year (and as of today is the proud owner of a vehicle - 2044 subaru forester - lots of miles on it but in good shape)
And the last 5 pictures are of my other kids (ROTC Mom - one of many....) Angie, Amanda, Alex, Austin (I have been this ones other Mom since about first grade - he is a senior also) and Brian.
As I say every year - it is really nice to see my kids get their awards as they work hard for them, but it is almost as nice to see so many awards go to the group of kids that my kids hang out with!!!!!
All for today - a few things to do yet today before I head off to work tonight....
Have a great Memorial Day weekend and Remember why it is that we have this weekend - to Honor those military members that have given their lives for our Freedom and Safety!!!

Cactus flowers

 Hallo,
Well I am still trying to wake up and get a move on today - the last 2 nights at work were busy and I didn't sleep much yesterday so I guess I have worklag (like jet lag only from work :)
I took these pics real quick the other day when I was taking some pictures of cards - I may have to take some more in the morning and take a bit more time, but these turned out pretty well.
This pretty little cactus is at my front door - it is planted in a 'dry spot'  - a spot where the sprinklers don't seem to hit - instead of having the DH fix the sprinklers many years ago I decided to make it a small cactus garden and they have the prettiest flowers!!!
Now off to get ready - the kids have JrROTC awards night tonight!!! Look for pictures tomorrow!!!

Christmas Card

Hallo,
Well todays post was sposed to be for todays CSS hop over at Gina K but when I made my card I didn't realize that this set had been retired and then I didn't have time to make another as I had to get off to work tonight.....and to top it off I realized that I had interpeted the challenge wrong and it was not sposed to be a Christmas cards either.....ah well, my brain might need a reboot this week.

I stamped the ornamnent stamps from 'Heirloom Ornaments'  (a retired set from Gina K)onto tan cardstock and cut them out with the matching Spellbinders dies. I then layered them on top of some black patterned DP, a back die cut, a black ribbon and a marroon with gold scrolly things ribbon and then onto some marroon and white Christmas paper - all on a base cardstock of olive green.

Well I had better get a move on and get ready for work - another busy night in store. Last night was busy too so will be glad for 3 days off after tonight!!!!
I was so wound up after work this am that I took Kyna puppy for a walk to the beach with my friend Nathalie and Kyna's doggy buddy Perry - it got hot pretty fast and Kyna was having a great time swimming and running like a crazy girl - by the time I got home I was really ready for bed (not sure I am ready for the summer weather...)
