CSS Animal theme hop

Hallo,

Well talk about getting finished in the nick of time.....I have been working on this project all week, or trying to....for tonight's Gina K CSS blog hop. I finally managed to finish and get pics just as light was begining to go.....about 5:45 pm..... For tonight's theme we were to use one of Gina's animal sets.

I had this project in mind when I bought this adorable set - 'Dino-mite'
This is a 'party in a box' - the box is an altered cigar box with a Dino theme and inside are party invitations, thank-you notes, and place cards for the guests. I also made up a Birthday card to match.
Coloring is done with prismacolor pencils and copics, and a bit of spica glitter pens on the party hat.
The inside of the box is lined with brown felt and can be used to 'wrap' the birthday gift and later for the Birthday Child's' treasures (not only boys like Dinosaurs you know :)




Just for fun I also used this weeks sketch from Stamp TV for both the box and the Birthday card :)
All for tonight...got extra teens in the house tonight and lasagna in the oven.....

Hallo,
Its 3 am and I am awake, as is often the case on my first night off (slept after work for about 4 hours and got up for the rest of the day - was tired at 1030 but woke at 2 wide awake - loveing having the computer to play with, although I used to pick up a good book - may have to get back to that ever so often at least).
Well anyway - I thought I would show you another card I made while I was doing up cards for my Friday blog hop post.
Again I used stuff from the piles on my desk - the card base with the diaganol layers was from another project a couple months ago that I decided not to use and it worked perfectly for this card!!!
The mitten and phrase were both stamped on the thin sheet of wood from the inside bottom of an old cigar box and then cut with a Spellbinders die. The wood tends to crack a bit but these 2 pieces didn't. I wonder if the thin wood sheets you can buy from craft sites crack like that too?
All the stamps are from Gina K and I did this card for this weeks sketch challenge over at Stamp TV.
All for now - I have spent about 2 hours now blogging, surfin, wrote a couple emails.....I think I may be able to go back to sleep now (glad the DH is keeping the bed warmed up for me :)

Mitten tags

Hallo,
Tried to post this this am after work but I kept falling asleep while typeing - made for some strange blog content for sure :) so will try again now that I have been out in the COLD to get the kiddos from school.....and yes I know I live in Florida but it is COLD!!!! highs in the 40's lows in the mid 20's. I have had to scrape frost off my windshield 5 times in the last week - that is almost more than we usually do all winter here.....and my drivers liscense doesn't make a good ice scraper....LOL
Quick post of some Christmas tags that I made for one of the release challenges last week over at Stamp TV/Gina K. I used some double sided Christmas paper and embossed the mittens with red embossing powder. Then I cut them with the coordinating Spellbinders die - the one just larger and edged the paper with gold mettalic pen. I cut some snowflakes out of some white paper with an iridescent sparkle to it (hard to see in photo) - then added some rhinestones and some other bling I had handy, punched a hole for some ribbon and done - easy peasy....and cute too.
I went a bit wild with Christmas paper this year so I am going to try to make a bunch of tags - a bit late for this year but I figure to get a jump on next year - I plan to send everyone in my family an assortment of tags.....
All for today - have to get some super going and then will try to do finish up a bunch of my Christmas cards to send tonight on the couch....

Sew Thanks

Hallo,
Well my kitchen is looking more like a kitchen again....I got all the touch up painting done and alot of the boxes unloaded back into the cupboards.....I only worked a couple hours as I was still draggin' from yesterday....DH and kiddos helped a bunch too.
My blog post for tomorrow will be late in the evening (pre-posted) for the Gina K CSS Alumni blog hop :)
I did get some stamping time today - finished off my cards for the blog hop and for a challenge....
I really NEED more stamping time!!! So many projects waiting in line in the back of my brain.....maybe that is why I am rambling a bit tonight :)
I did these 2 cards some time ago - same color theme and stamps but with different ribbons. Stamps from Gina K - colored with copics.
Well thats about all for tonight - I have a small craft fair sponsered by my workplace tomorrow (won't stay all day as I have to work tomorrow night).

Orchid - pink and orange

Hallo,
I have an orchid on my porch that blooms pinkish orange with pink spots - really pretty. I was trying to copy it here :)
The stamp is from Gina K - colored with copics.
Short for tonight - very sleepy - the last 2 nights at work just kicked my butt!!!! And when I got up today I tried to get some of the stuff put back in my kitchen and some of the touch up painting done - Am I the only one that has to touch up the touch up's? Arrrggg....
More painting and reorganizing for me tomorrow - maybe some craft room time if I am lucky.....

Cas cards

Hallo,
Popping in on day 6 of the kitchen redo project - no pics of the kitchen (this isn't a horror blog :).
I started staining today hopeing to get a first coat on everything 1 - before it rained, and 2 - before the kids got home as I had errands to run once they got home.... Well I started at 820 and almost got done by 230 when the kids got home but I beat the rain at least.....boy am I sore!!! Postponed both errands - got one done and with finish off the second one tomorrow( my phone died so am getting a new one and since my old palm pad is dying too, I am splurging and getting a DROID - this ought to be interesting , we are also finally adding DD onto the cell phone plan as her track phone is dying too...).
Well my cards for the day were origionally meant for a Gina K CSS alumini blog hope that I managed to get this far with and then ran out of time to get it posted on the day of the hop......sigh....
The challenge was for CAS cards - cleasn and simple with only one layer on top of base cardstock and all embellishments had to be the same color.
All the cards use Gina K stamps - the first one was done with the cupcake stand from 'Tea Time" and texture added with a Spellbinders frame onto coredinations cardstock and sanded the texture. The image was colored with copics and spica glitter pens.




I used the spellbinders frame again on the second card as the layer and stamped the teapot from the "Tea Time " set onto the base cardstock - colored with copics.
The third card I used 2 different texture folders and my scor pad for the base layer and then Gina K stamp from the new "Lovely Labels 2" cut with the coordinating Spellbinders die as the layer. And finally added some swirly bling .....
All for tonight - some couch time a comin' - raining here tomorrow most likely so won't get any staning done - but with finish off a couple errands and start prepping to paint......maybe a stolen hour at the craft table.....

Peace, Love and Joy

Hallo,
Well I should sleep well tonight - the last 2 nights at work have been very busy, didn't sleep well yesterday and today I got up early to have lunch with my good friend Pat!!!
Between my work schedule and the teenagers and Pat's busy schedule we haven't had much time to get together lately so it was great to go to lunch and talk crafts, family work(Pat is an RN too) but mostly crafts :).
Once done with lunch I ran a couple errands and picked up the kiddos after their after school meetings....and then came home and managed to finish a card.
I did this card for this weeks sketch challenge over at Stamp TV - you need to check out Stamp TV - membership is free, lots of free tutorials, an awsome gallery and with the weekly challenges - chances to win free stamp sets from Gina K!!!!

The base layer on this card is red cardstock ran through a texture folder and then highlighted with gold mettalic rub on paste.
The next layer up is 2 ribbons - a wide thin gold one and a green one.
Next up is a patterned paper stamped with a label from the new 'Lovely labels 2' stamp set - first time I stamped it onto this DP the green pattern was to 'busy' so I took another piece of the same DP and sanded it a bit to 'smooth' out some of the pattern and then stamped in distress brick red.
The small label is also from "Lovely Labels 2' - stamped in distress peeled paint (green). The phrase is from 'Holiday Hospitality' stamped in the distress red also.
Finally I added some red and green flat backed pearls and dats it...

Well - I plan to be back tomorrow inbetween sanding I will take breaks at the craft table. Wish me luck as I have never taken on a big refinish project like this before and I only have a week and 1/2 to finish (well - a week and 1/2 off work and I REALLY want to have the cabinets as well as the painting done by then.....like I said, wish me luck!!!)
All for tonight - need to get something rolling for dinner - also need to get up and move before I fall asleep (2 1/2 hours sleep just isn't quite enough but some days so very worth it - and I will sleep through the night instead of waking up at 2 am not able to get back to sleep....)

Dream Label - Gina K

Hallo,
Just a quick post tonight - DH is out of town, DS is already asleep, and DD is staying over at a friends and I am working on craft stuff.
My Chief Enabler Pat and I went to Pensacola shopping today - went to HL, JoAnn's, and a couple thrift shops, as well as our usual lunch stop at a great little place downtown.
I put myself on a waiting list for a booth at an indoor flea market a month or so ago, thinking I had a couple months - well low and behold one came open and I start on Sept. 1st.....so I have been gathering stuff to display stuff on and am now in the process of digging all my finished projects out of all the nooks and crannies around my house and getting them priced and tagged.....then I have to get busy crafting itself with hopes of "needing' to keep the shelves from getting bare.....wish me luck!!!
I did this card for a challenge over at Stamp TV last week - color challenge I believe for red, black and pink. The label frame is from Gina K and the phrase is from StampLand. The flowers were colored and stamped (and colored) again to layer on top.


All for tonight - back to my closets and tags.....

Friends make the world....

Hallo,
Just a quick post before I head for bed tonight - sadly I didn't get any stamping done today.
We got back from our weekend trip yesterday so today was errand day - laundry, clean the pool, pull some weeds(not many as it got too hot waaay too fast for me) restock the frig.....ect., ect., ect.....
I should get some stamping time tomorrow - between running the kids to Volunteer - DS, and Drivers Ed - DD.....
I did this card awhile back for a challenge on Stamp TV.
The base cardstock was run through an inked cuttlebug folder and then edged with the same ink.
The main image is from Gina K - I stamped it onto slightly lighter cardstock than the base with the same ink as I used on the base. Stamped the phrase also with the same color ink - phrase is Gina K also.
I then colored in the flowers with prismacolor pencils and edged the main panel first with colored pencil - then with gold mettalic pen.
The pearls were colored with a copic marker to match the color theme.

Seashell plaque redo....

Hallo,
Just a short post this am as my bed is ever so sweetly calling me - with a hammer LOL - silly me - note to self, always get a nap before going to work night shift.
Remember this seashell plaque - well I liked it well enough but it felt like it still 'needed something'. I remembered some beads I had - you know the ones in the jar with the glue already mixed in - so I hunted and found the ones I had - only to find at least 2 of them had completely dried out (note to self - use supplies before they are no longer usable...)
These blue ones had just enough goo left so I edged the plaque with them and them edged the main image too.
I like how it turned out - just that little finishing touch and now it says he's done :)
I had this plaque done for over a month just sitting - finished it off a couple days ago.
All for now - off to bed...

Peace Christmas

Hallo,
Quick little post here tonight - need to get my lunch packed for work tonight.....
Did this for this weeks color challenge over at Stamp TV - burgundy and gold.
All stamps from Gina K.
The gold panel is a gold vellum embossed with a cuttlebug folder and the ornament is embossed with gold and colored with copics.
I also colored some flat backed pearls with a gold mettalic pen to match.
I just noticed that the glue isn't quite dry yet - ah well......


If you would say a quick prayer for my youngest brother tonight - he is in the hospital....

Channel surfin'

Hallo,
Taking a lunch break from chores to show you a card I made today - colored the image several days ago and put it together this am.
I am getting some cleaning done around the house today but am pacing myself - i.e. rewarding myself.....got up and took the dog for the walk and that seemed to be really tough to do today, but once I got moving it wasn't so bad. So then I worked a bit in the craft room, did a chore, more craft stuff.....only a couple more chores to do today :)

I colored the image with copics and cut both panels - main image and phrase from Spellbinders labels dies. The 2 panels are edged with red mettalic pen and the small brads were colored with the red mettalic pen to match.
Phrase is from Gina K.
All for now - more chores to do and the excersise machine has been mocking me so I might have to teach it a lesson too.....LOL

What's Cookin'

Well welcome to friday morning - 'runners take your places'....' bang' ....off and running this am....
I hit a bit of a wall yesterday and came home after work intending to sleep a bit and get up and get errands done - alas no errands, all sleep - slept till 330 and back to bed at 10 pm and slept ALL NIGHT - I guess I must have needed it because I am ready to go this am!!!
My town does an 'Art Walk' on friday evenings down on the strip of little shops on the main drag, and I have decided to set up tonight and give it a try (the best of the craft fairs for me in the fall is scheduled on my weekend to work this year - and I am no longer allowed to take vacation time on my weekends to work sooo......). In addition to gathering to set up at the Art Walk tonight, I need to get groceries and clean house......
These 2 cards today turned out really cute - I thought so anyway - as usual I couldn't chose which backround stamp I wanted to use as 'wallpaper' so I ended up with 2...


The backrounders are both from Cornish Heritage Farms - www.cornishheritagefarms.com
This first one is called 'ornamental borders' and the second one is 'sophisticated swirls'. I embossed them with white embossing powder onto the teal base cardstock.
The bottom portions of the card is a Technique Junkie terchnique called 'faux painted paneling' and is really easy to do. First you cut the white base to size - in this case the width of the card and however high you want. Then cut 1/4 inch strips the same height - and one 1/4 inch strip for the width. The strips are then glued onto the white base at 1/4 inch intervals.
I then used a gray copic marker to edge all the panels to give the impression of a shadow and a bit morre depth....
The main image and phrase are from Gina K designs and I paper pieced the aprons, coloring the rest with copic markers. www.ginakdesigns.com
The 'teal' colored rhinestones were colored to match with a copic marker.

Best friend tee's

Hallo,
Quick post for you this am - I was up most of the night and need to get some errands/chores done so I can have crafting time before my pre-nightshift nap.....thats the hard part for me about being back on night shift - my first day off I can't stay up all day (too old I guess) but if I sleep too much then I can't sleep at night and in this case I really didn't try too hard because I have to work tonight (then I have 4 off thankfully). I will eventually find a formula that works - still working out the kinks of being back on night shift....
I made this card a couple weeks ago for a challenge over at Stamp TV - I can't remember which one it was....
The base card has been run through an inked cuttlebug folder. I used the same ink to stamp the Tee's, flowers, label frame and the phrase.
I colored the flowers with prismacolor pencil and colored the edge of the frame too. Added the pearls for a bit of a classic 'shabby chic' accent - What could be more 'shabby chic' than pearls with a t-shirt?


I really liked how this turned out - when I have time I want to do a purple version. I would love to have the t-shirt in purple!!!

Hiking with Dad

Hallo,
Quick little prepost for you on this monday am - I am working night shift so will probably be home and into bed within minutes of hitting the door :).
I did these 2 cards for a challenge over at Stamp TV a couple weeks ago now.
As usual I couldn't decide which colors to use so had to do 2. One has the green dominate and the other brown.
2 Layers on each card have been cut with Spellbinders dies and ran through an inked cuttlebug folder.
The main panel on each is from Gina K designs and colored with copics. I added rhinestones for accents - green ones were colored with my copics as well, amber/brown ones I already had.

This is going to be a really quick post - I am late and the DH is chomping at the bit (we are sposed to be going out to eat).
This is my second entry for this months Spotlight Guest Designer for Gina K. The challenge this month , in addition to using one of last months release sets was to get inspiration from a favorite movie.
The movie I chose was "A river runs through it".
This is another plaque - I guess I was in a plaque mood....
I first painted it with brown acrylic paint and when dry painted it with walnut stain distress crackle paint.
For the main image I used the 'Gone Fishin' set and colored it with a combination of copics and prismacolor pencils(blended with OMS). The phrase is from the Masculine lines set. both panels I used Spellbinders dies on - the big one just for the corners. Edged with copper mettalic pen as is the plaque itself.
