Happy Birthday Flourishes

Hallo,

Flourishes is lighting the candles and getting ready to sing to honor their fourth Birthday!!! And, as a way to celebrate, I am happy to say I was hand-picked to help them have a bit of a party as a designer for their customer appreciation hop!!!! The only challenge here was to create a card or project using my favorite Flourishes stamp set (REALLY??? - my FAVORITE set O M G - and how am I sposed to decide that!!!!! - well more on that in a minute...)

Keep reading - I'll tell you how you can win some Flourishes goodies too!!!

If you are following along the hop then you came to me from the very talented Rosemary Dennis - http://www.heythererosigrl.blogspot.com/ (LOVE that blog title BTW - its got me singing...)

If you just popped in here and this is the first you are hearing of the hop then you WILL want to pop in over at Flourishes for the total scoop and start the hop from the top :) - www.flourishes.org/2011/08/birthday-blog-hop-day-1/

You will have until Sept. 1st at 5pm CST to enter.

On to my projects for today - well bet you are wondering how I chose my 'favorite set' - well....my newest favorite is my newest flower set from the last release 'Hollyhocks' is that close enough? :)

One of the reason I LOVE Flourishes is all the wonderful flower sets!!!! I love to color and all their flower sets are just perfect for coloring!!!

This latest set reminds me of going over to my (now) MIL's place because she always had Hollyhocks and Iris growing.

You can check out this set here - www.shop.flourishes.org/Hollyhocks_p/ss163.htm

I did this card up twice using the same colors for the flowers - the first card was done with copics and the second one was done with prismacolor pencils. The copics will give you a little sharper and brighter result and the pencils a softer look. I colored the pencil one fairly bright but it is sometimes easier to get softer lighter colors with the pencils compared to the copics (for me anyhow).

I cut the main image out of both cards with Spellbinders dies, using an out-of-the-box technique and edged them with gold mettalic pen.

Now see that last photo with all those great stamp sets - that is the prize package you could win.

Ok enough chatter from me - your next stop along the hop is Misti Oblander and I am sure she has some awesome stuff to show you too - www.misti-acardaday.blogspot.com

Take Care

Tera

Both cards are beautiful, Tera, and I love the gold edging. I tried that recently and it didn't turn out nearly as good as yours.

oh you did an absolutely fabulous job of coloring those Hollyhocks. Gorgeous. Beautiful card too. BIG GRIN. And yes it's usually the last set we get that becomes our favorite, except when I go thumbing through my drawer...

What an incredibly beautiful and vivid creation Tera! I could just stare at this one forever with the depth of coloring!! Thank you so much for helping Flourishes celebrate four wonderful years! It's been so fun seeing what some of our "fans" picked up as their favorite sets and man, to see the creativity has been just such a joy!

You used both mediums beautifully. I personally think pencils and gamsol gives a more blended look but your colouring skills are outstanding so they look pretty similar. What a great choice for your favourite stamp.
